Job Purpose
The Production Operator is responsible for the safe operation, cleaning, monitoring, and handover of production processes, equipment, and work areas to ensure products are manufactured to the required quality standards. The role supports compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) standards, and operational procedures.
The Production Operator is also responsible for inventory and stock-related activities within their designated area.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations
- Execute all production activities in accordance with approved procedures and work instructions.
- Ensure production processes are carried out safely, efficiently, and in compliance with GMP and HSEQ requirements.
- Organise and execute daily production activities to meet operational targets.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any issues that may impact production.
- Propose process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and productivity.
Equipment Management
- Operate production equipment safely and effectively.
- Carry out equipment cleaning, preparation, and housekeeping activities.
- Verify that equipment is calibrated and suitable for use before operation.
- Identify equipment faults and report maintenance requirements.
- Perform basic maintenance tasks where appropriate.
Quality & Compliance
- Complete all required production documentation accurately, including batch records, production logs, and associated records.
- Conduct in-process checks and sample intermediates and finished products as required.
- Support compliance with Quality Management Systems and Food Safety standards.
- Follow all applicable company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Cooperate with internal and external audits and inspections.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the production area.
- Make recommendations for improving processes, systems, and performance.
- Participate in the review and update of production documentation, procedures, and process instructions.
Training & Teamwork
- Assist with the onboarding and training of new production personnel.
- Support colleagues transferring from other departments or production areas.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programmes.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to achieve business objectives.
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
- Wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment using 5S principles.
- Support site security, sanitation, and housekeeping standards.
- Participate in health and safety initiatives and training programmes.
General Responsibilities
- Undertake additional duties and responsibilities that are reasonably required within the scope of the role.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Essential
- Previous experience working in a manufacturing, production, or processing environment.
- Ability to follow documented procedures and work instructions accurately.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
Desirable
- Experience working in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience within food, pharmaceutical, chemical, medical device, or related industries.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and continuous improvement practices.
- Mechanical aptitude and experience performing basic equipment maintenance.

Working Environment
The role is based within a manufacturing and production environment and may require the use of PPE, adherence to hygiene standards, and working in accordance with site-specific safety procedures.
