Our client is seeking a professional and experienced individual to join their finance team in Cork for a six-month contract. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will play a key role in the preparation of monthly management accounts. This position is ideally suited to a qualified Accounting Technician, a part-qualified accountant, or a candidate with substantial industry experience within a fast-paced finance environment. Given the nature of this temporary assignment, individuals with a short notice period or immediate availability will be prioritised.
Responsibilities
- Collate and analyse financial data necessary for the production of monthly accounts.
- Update and reconcile General Ledger accounts to maintain an accurate trial balance.
- Perform comprehensive monthly reconciliations of all General Ledger accounts.
- Execute and complete regular bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and submit required statutory revenue reports and filings.
- Manage stock reporting processes, including the coordination and compilation of month-end stock takes.
- Ensure the maintenance and integrity of financial system policies and procedures.
- Address and resolve internal and external financial queries in a professional and timely manner.
- Collaborate effectively within the wider accounts team, providing support to colleagues as required.
- Provide necessary cover for team members during periods of leave.
- Undertake ad hoc financial projects and any other duties required to support the finance function.
Requirements
- An Accounting Technician qualification or a similar professional credential, or equivalent practical experience in a relevant industry.
- A minimum of two to three years of experience operating in a comparable accounting role.
- A proven track record of proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Practical experience in the processing and posting of General Ledger journals.
- Direct experience working with trial balances and General Ledger reporting.
- Previous experience in payroll processing is considered an advantage.
- Highly developed analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to prioritise a diverse workload and meet strict deadlines.
- A proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member.
- Prior experience within a manufacturing or industrial environment is desirable but not mandatory.
