For the first half of 2023, Canada experienced widespread Tech layoffs, which started in the US. Thankfully, in the latter half, this relented.
Organisations that continued recruiting often had fewer internal talent acquisition resources and a larger pool of talent vying for opportunities. This resulted in more interview rounds and pushed up time-to-hire, as they proceeded cautiously to ensure that any new hire was the right selection.

Unsurprisingly, salaries have not been at the bumper level we became accustomed to through 2021 and 2022 - a slowdown and recalibration were inevitable.
This said, the in-demand areas have stayed consistent with those levels.
