Our client, a market leader in their field, is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day finance operations of their business. Working as part of a busy finance team, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end reporting, and ensuring compliance with VAT and customs regulations. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the accounts payable function, including processing supplier invoices and resolving queries.
- Prepare bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Support credit control activities, including customer account management and credit limit reviews.
- Prepare Irish and UK VAT returns and process customs duty and VAT documentation.
- Maintain the fixed asset register and process additions, disposals and depreciation.
- Prepare stock reconciliations, inventory reports and variance analysis.
- Manage prepayments, accruals, employee expenses, company credit cards and petty cash.
- Produce weekly and monthly financial reports to support business operations.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring compliance with internal controls and financial procedures.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, customers and suppliers to support the smooth running of the finance function.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant or similar finance role.
- Strong understanding of accounts payable, bank reconciliations and month-end processes.
- Knowledge of Irish and UK VAT regulations; customs or import/export experience is an advantage.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial accounting systems.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively to deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships.
