Our client is a successful and growing SME based in Limerick and is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to join its finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to take ownership of the finance function within a supportive, collaborative and well-established business.
Reporting to senior management, the Financial Controller will have responsibility for the day-to-day financial operations of the business, ensuring strong financial controls, accurate reporting and effective financial management.
Key Role Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day finance function and financial operations.
- Prepare monthly management accounts, budgets, forecasts and financial reports.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and cash-flow reporting.
- Monitor financial performance and provide meaningful analysis to senior management.
- Manage VAT, tax and other statutory reporting requirements.
- Liaise with external auditors, accountants, banks and other professional advisers.
- Maintain robust financial controls and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and strategic financial planning.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems and reporting efficiencies.
- Provide commercial insight and financial guidance to the wider business.
- Support senior management with ad-hoc financial analysis and projects.
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified accountant 7+ years PQE
- Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or senior accounting position.
- Strong management accounting, reporting and financial analysis experience.
- Excellent Excel and financial systems skills.
- Strong understanding of financial controls, VAT and statutory reporting.
- Commercially focused with excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive, organised and comfortable working in an SME environment.
- Ability to work independently while also being a strong team player.
