A growing international technology company in the energy/renewables sector is seeking an experienced Senior AWS Cloud Engineer. This team builds solutions that enable greater integration of renewable energy sources into national grids-helping reduce emissions and reliance on fossil fuels.
As part of a specialist team focused on cloud, internal systems, cyber security, and IT operations, you'll play a key role in scaling the AWS infrastructure to support global expansion. This is a chance to make real impact in a mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build secure, scalable, and cost-optimized AWS infrastructure with high reliability and uptime in mind.
- Automate cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure-as-Code tools like Terraform, creating reusable, standardized modules.
- Manage and scale Kubernetes clusters on AWS (EKS), ensuring strong performance of containerized workloads.
- Develop monitoring, alerting, and dashboarding solutions for visibility into system health and performance.
- Lead post-incident reviews and implement long-term reliability improvements.
- Reduce manual overhead through process automation and tooling.
- Write and maintain internal documentation for systems, configurations, and procedures.
- Collaborate with software engineers on deployment and release processes, embedding reliability and security best practices.
- Stay current on modern cloud and infrastructure trends, especially in areas of automation and security.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in AWS cloud, DevOps, or software engineering roles.
- At least 2 years in a cloud architecture or senior design capacity.
- Strong technical leadership in architecting and maintaining robust systems at scale.
- Proven ability to solve ambiguous infrastructure challenges with clear, strategic thinking.
- Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures and modern cloud-native patterns.
- Solid understanding of security best practices including encryption, secure coding, and vulnerability mitigation.
- Experience managing AWS services and resources efficiently and securely.
- Strong scripting/debugging skills.
- Excellent communication skills (English, written and verbal).
Nice to Have
- Background in networking (cloud and/or on-premise).
- Experience building secure and scalable IoT systems in a cloud environment.
- Ability to both adapt and refactor legacy systems, and build new ones from scratch.
