You will have ample opportunity for growth and development, supporting the financial accountant and Group Financial Controller on day to day accounting and month end close activities for multiple entities. The successful candidate will support the monthly accounting and tax functions of the business, including audit preparation, fixed asset management, tax compliance and the preparation of management accounts. This position plays an important role in maintaining the financial accuracy and integrity of the organisation.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the comprehensive monthly reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts
- Provide vital support during month-end closing processes, with a specific focus on performing accurate and timely bank reconciliations.
- Prepare and post financial journals within the accounting software system
- Help ensure that all financial reporting deadlines are consistently met while maintaining full alignment with internal and external compliance requirements.
- Assist with the annual audit process by preparing necessary documentation and actively responding to queries raised by external auditors.
- Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of fixed assets, including tracking of existing assets, and
- Prepare and manage the submission of various tax returns, including VAT filings
- Support the creation and maintenance of process documentation to build a robust knowledge base and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist the finance department in developing and implementing enhanced financial reporting capabilities to provide deeper insights into business performance.
- Maintain the highest standards of confidentiality regarding all sensitive financial and corporate information.
- Ensure full compliance with all applicable statutory regulations as well as company health and safety guidelines.
- Process and reconcile all company credit card transactions, ensuring all expenses are properly documented, authorized, and allocated.
Person Specification and Qualifications
- Part qualified accountant or actively working towards a professional qualification ACCA/CIMA/ ACA etc
- Minimum 2 -4 years' relevant accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of debits and credits
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Good knowledge of VAT and general tax compliance
- High attention to detail with strong organisational skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work independently while following direction accurately
- High level of integrity and discretion when handling confidential information
- Any IT-related skills or experience would be beneficial
