Finance Officer/Accounts Assistant-Public Sector-Dublin 2
We are seeking a bright, motivated Accounts Assistant to join a dynamic public sector finance team. This role suits a passionate self starter with strong numerical skills and a genuine interest in developing their finance career.
You will work closely with the Finance Manager, supporting core operational finance activities across payables, reconciliations, journals, payroll and month‑end close.

Location: Dublin 2
Salary Range: €40,000-€50,000
Key Responsibilities
- Posting and coding purchase invoices accurately and on time, preparing weekly payment runs, administering purchase orders, and resolving supplier queries promptly.
- Completing creditor reconciliations and preparing related reports.
- Handling T&E process by verifying submissions for accuracy, correct coding, and compliance.
- Processing fortnightly payroll through SAGE 50 Payroll: preparing pension, trade union, credit union, and other payroll remittances as well as responding to staff payroll queries.
- Preparing bank and pretty cash reconciliations.
- Recording bank payments accurately.
- Recording and posting travel trade bond account movements.
- Assisting with internal and statutory audits, as well as supporting annual budget preparation.
- Preparing quarterly prompt payment returns and posting travel trade license income.
- Assisting the Finance Manager with ad hoc reporting and financial analysis.
What You'll Need
- 2-6 years minimum of relevant accounts experience.
- Qualified Accounting Technician or equivalent advantageous.
- Demonstrates initiative, ownership, and positive attitude towards daily responsibilities.
- Good organisational skills and ability to manage day to day activities.
- Prior experience with Irish payroll processes, statutory requirements, and compliance.
- Experience within public sector, technology, financial services, or aviation advantageous.
- Ability to assist with or prepare journal entries advantageous.
- Able to work as a team member and proven ability to work on own initiative.
- Excellent attention to detail
- Previous experience with SAGE software advantageous.
