Our client, a well-established organisation operating in a highly visible and regulated sector, is seeking an experienced Communications Manager to join their Brand & Corporate Communications function. This is a key role with responsibility for delivering an integrated communications programme that enhances reputation, strengthens stakeholder engagement, and supports wider business objectives.
Reporting to the Director of Brand & Corporate Communications, the successful candidate will manage both external and internal communications activity, working closely with senior leadership and key stakeholders across the organisation.
The Role
As Communications Manager, you will lead the development and execution of proactive communications strategies that ensure consistent messaging across all channels. You will manage media relationships, support internal engagement initiatives, and play a key role in stakeholder communications and issue management.
Key Responsibilities:
- External Communications:
- Develop and deliver a proactive external communications strategy targeting government, state bodies, media and the wider public.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors and key opinion formers.
- Work with external communications agencies to draft and distribute press releases, statements and media materials.
- Manage media enquiries, monitor coverage and support spokespeople in preparation for interviews and public engagements.
- Identify opportunities for thought leadership and positive media coverage.
- Support issue and crisis communications in collaboration with senior Corporate Affairs colleagues.
- Internal Communications:
- Develop and implement internal communications plans that inform, engage and align employees with organisational priorities.
- Draft internal newsletters, announcements and leadership communications.
- Ensure consistency between internal messaging, organisational values and the external narrative.
- Support senior leaders in communicating key initiatives and business updates.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Identify and prioritise key stakeholder audiences including government, policy makers, industry bodies and community groups.
- Develop tailored communications and engagement plans to support advocacy and public affairs objectives.
- Content & Channel Management:
- Create high-quality content for a range of channels including website, social media, internal platforms and presentations.
- Ensure consistency of tone, style and messaging across all communications.
- Support the delivery of campaigns and events through effective digital communications.
- Measurement & Reporting:
- Monitor and analyse communications activity and provide insights and reporting to senior leadership.
About You
You will be a confident and experienced communications professional with strong writing skills, a proactive mindset and the ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships. You are comfortable working in fast-paced environments and bring a structured, solutions-focused approach to your work.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in communications, public relations or journalism, ideally within a corporate or agency setting.
- Strong written, editorial and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing media relations and delivering proactive communications programmes.
- Experience developing and executing internal communications initiatives.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
- Experience in issues and crisis communications is advantageous.
- Proficiency with digital and social media platforms.
- Strong organisational and project management capability with excellent attention to detail.
