Morgan McKinley is partnering with a leading global pharmaceutical organisation to hire an experienced Business Unit Manager for their Oncology division. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing team dedicated to improving patient outcomes and advancing standards of care in a rapidly evolving therapeutic area.
In this pivotal leadership role, you will oversee the strategic direction, tactical execution, and commercial performance of key brands within the Oncology portfolio. You will lead brand strategy, manage marketing and commercial activities, and coach the in-field team to drive growth and optimise performance.
This is a people management position reporting into the Business Unit Director.
Drive the creation and implementation of brand plans, ensuring commercial goals are met and budgets are effectively managed.
Provide leadership and direction to the in-market teams, motivating both marketing and sales colleagues to deliver on shared strategic priorities.
Strengthen collaboration across departments and guide teams to work efficiently within a matrix-style organisation.
Oversee brand financials, including forecasting, budgeting, and tracking performance against key metrics.
Encourage new thinking by promoting a culture that supports creativity, agility, and smart risk-taking.
Support ongoing capability development within the sales organisation through coaching, training, and performance improvement initiatives.
Build cohesive field teams and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Use market insights and competitive intelligence to inform decision-making and shape future brand direction.
Champion talent development by identifying future leaders and supporting long-term workforce planning.
Demonstrate the organisation's values through leadership behaviours and help embed a positive, collaborative working culture.
Brings a minimum of five years' experience in commercial leadership roles within the pharma/biotech sector, ideally involving work in specialist therapeutic areas.
Demonstrated ability to build, guide, and grow teams, with clear evidence of developing talent and driving strong performance outcomes.
Skilled in shaping strategic direction and converting it into clear, effective operational plans.
Well-versed in the broader healthcare ecosystem, with strong competency in commercial planning, brand management, and financial analysis.
Experienced collaborating across multiple departments and navigating the dynamics of a matrix-based organisation.
Communicates confidently and effectively, with the ability to influence and manage relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
