On behalf of our client, a leading player in the energy and fuel sector, we are seeking an experienced Finance Assistant to join their team. This 12-month fixed-term contract covers a maternity leave and offers an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced, professional finance department.
Reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will play a vital role in the Finance Administration Team. Your primary focus will be ensuring the accuracy of supplier accounts, managing payments, and maintaining precise financial records. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys high-volume processing and taking ownership of the ledger.
Efficiently code and input a high volume of purchase invoices into the system.
Match invoices against purchase orders and delivery notes, proactively resolving any discrepancies.
Manage the finance mailbox, addressing queries from suppliers and internal departments promptly.
Perform regular supplier statement reconciliations and assist with bank and control account checks.
Support the preparation of bank payment files and ensure all shop accounts are reconciled weekly and at month-end.
Assist with month-end closing activities specifically related to Accounts Payable.
Contribute to initiatives aimed at streamlining the Accounts Payable function.
Provide ad hoc administrative and financial assistance to the wider team as required.
Proven track record in Accounts Payable or a high-volume data entry role within a finance setting.
Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential; experience with Oracle is an advantage, though full training is provided.
Exceptional numerical accuracy and a keen eye for detail when handling complex documentation.
Confident interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with suppliers and colleagues.
Able to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
