Job Description

NBI is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager who wants to jump in head-first and help scale a mission-driven company experiencing rapid growth.

Overview

The National Broadband Plan (NBP) is the largest ever telecommunications project undertaken by the Irish State. It aims to radically transform the country's broadband landscape through the delivery of quality, affordable high-speed broadband to all parts of Ireland where such services are not available commercially.

The NBP will ensure that all people and businesses in the Intervention Area have access to a modern and reliable broadband network, capable of supporting the communications, information, education and entertainment requirements of current and future generations.

The network will be designed, built and operated by National Broadband Ireland, using a combination of State subsidy and commercial investment. It will make its services available to all of the rollout area, which accounts for 23% of the population in about approximately 537,000 homes, farms, schools and businesses.

Key Objectives / Accountabilities:

NBI is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager who wants to jump in head-first and help scale a mission-driven company experiencing rapid growth.

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer this role requires a strong Senior Project Manager with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, to tight deadlines across multiple cross functional initiatives is key. The role by its nature requires excellent people skills, an ability to take the initiative and make decisions, as well as critical business thinking.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Chief Operating Officer in the development of the business through the identification, planning and delivery of key cross functional initiatives.
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, manage dependencies and critical path deliverables impacting the delivery of the initiatives
  • Liaise with project managers, stakeholders, managers and team members to plan, to schedule, keep track and report on project status.
  • Actively manage risks and issues and propose solutions to those that that will have an impact on project cost, timelines and/or quality
  • Monitor, track and control outcomes to resolve issues, manage dependencies and critical path deliverables impacting the delivery of the initiatives
  • Deliver accurate and timely updates to the Chief Operating Officer, other senior managers and/or the Department as required
  • Align the initiatives with overall NBI program policies, roadmap, constraints and plans
  • Proactively manage stakeholders
  • Working alongside the existing PMO to ensure alignment of governance practices, templates, policies, tools and processes
  • Continually seek new initiatives and process changes to improve, expand and mature the PM practices and capabilities for the organisation
  • Employee engagement performance management and improvement

Knowledge & Experience:

  • 10+ years senior project manager level experience
  • Strong communicator with proven ability to create and foster strong teams and build cross functional relationships
  • Experience in complex projects preferably within telecommunications, infrastructure deployments
  • Experience in fast-paced, complex start-up environments
  • In-depth knowledge of Project Management methodology and practices eg PMBOK, Prince
  • Excellent stakeholder management experience
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle tasks in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment
  • Detail oriented and delivery focused with ability to analyse data
  • Excellent ambassador for NBI, promoting the organisation and role modelling NBI's values.
