The Client:

Grafton Group Plc is a prominent FTSE 250 company, a leader in the distribution of building materials with a strong presence in Ireland, the UK, the Netherlands, and Finland. Grafton Group is known for its innovation, strong leadership, and commitment to long-term growth and sustainability. As part of its leadership restructuring, the company was seeking a successor for its Group Financial Controller role, following the announcement of the current postholder's decision to step down after 35 years of service. This provided a critical opportunity to bring in a new leader for the finance function, someone who could contribute to the organization’s future growth.

The Requirement:

The departure of the long-serving Group Financial Controller and Company Secretary created a significant gap that needed to be filled with a capable and experienced professional. Grafton Group required a new Group Financial Controller to take on a leadership position that would have a direct impact on the company's financial health, reporting, and strategy. Reporting to the Group CFO, the Group Financial Controller would oversee the consolidation of financial data across the company's operations in multiple European markets. This was a senior-level position that required not only technical financial expertise but also strong leadership skills to manage a diverse and geographically dispersed team.The ideal candidate needed to bring a proven track record in financial leadership, exceptional technical skills in financial consolidation and analysis, and a collaborative approach to working with internal and external stakeholders.
