Amarenco, Managing Director - Ireland

The Client

Amarenco is an independent energy producer, founded in 2018 from the merger of two companies with complementary expertise: Méthode Carré, a French design office and project management company founded in 2008 by Olivier Carré to design photovoltaic projects and work with investors interested in this sector. Amarenco, founded in 2013 in Ireland by Alain Desvigne and John Mullins to finance and develop infrastructures around renewable energies, in France and Ireland in particular. With its sound business model integrating the complete chain for solar electricity production, Amarenco enjoyed immediate growth, developing on 3 continents in only 3 years, and has raised nearly €500m from well-known investors since 2020. Amarenco now focuses exclusively on Europe.

The Challenge

Amarenco was seeking an experienced, results-driven Managing Director with a deep understanding of the Irish Energy market, greenfield renewable project development, grid infrastructure, and planning requirements. A multifaceted MD role to join a business at a critical point of growth in the European PV Solar industry. An exceptionally small talent pool exists in Ireland with this experience at a leadership level. We conducted a European-wide search to ensure we mapped all relevant talent in Ireland as well as Irish diaspora working in the sector abroad. The new Managing Director would have to work seamlessly with the French-headquartered leadership team.

The Solution

We identified a strong cohort of Irish-based executives. The candidate was in a meaningful role leading the Irish operations for another global renewable business. Through our tailored approach, we managed to engage this candidate and introduce them to Amarenco. In collaboration with Amarenco leadership stakeholders across Ireland and France, we worked to create a bespoke candidate experience to introduce them to all international stakeholders. This resulted in a significantly experienced hire for Amarenco and a candidate with a strong and relevant network to support immediate growth and impact.
