An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Listed Derivatives Operations Specialist to join a leading global investment bank during a critical growth phase of its Japan business.
This role offers a unique combination of project leadership and business-as-usual (BAU) operations, supporting the firm's strategic expansion of its listed derivatives business. You will play a key role in establishing local self-clearing capabilities with Japanese exchanges while also overseeing daily clearing, settlement, and trade support operations.
This position is ideal for professionals with expertise in Listed Derivatives Operations, Futures & Options, Clearing & Settlement, Exchange Operations, Trade Support, and Investment Banking Operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead operational initiatives to establish self-clearing capabilities with Japanese exchanges including JSCC, OSE, and TOCOM.
- Coordinate testing, implementation, and operational readiness for exchange onboarding projects.
- Manage daily trade processing, clearing, settlement, allocations, and reconciliation activities.
- Investigate and resolve operational breaks and trade discrepancies.
- Collaborate with Front Office, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams across local and global offices.
- Ensure operational processes comply with exchange rules and regulatory requirements.
- Identify process inefficiencies and implement improvements, controls, and automation initiatives.
- Support business growth by enhancing operational scalability and risk management frameworks.
- Act as a key liaison with exchanges, clearing organizations, and internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to strategic expansion initiatives within the Listed Derivatives business.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- 3-5+ years of hands-on experience in Listed Derivatives Operations (Futures & Options).
- Experience within an investment bank, broker-dealer, exchange, or clearing house environment.
- Strong understanding of Japanese market infrastructure, exchange operations, and clearing processes.
- Experience supporting trade lifecycle management, clearing, settlement, and reconciliation activities.
- Experience working with exchange connectivity, onboarding, or self-clearing initiatives is highly advantageous.
- Knowledge of operational risk management and control frameworks.

- Knowledge of automation and operational process improvement initiatives.
- Experience working within global investment banking environments.
- Understanding of Japanese regulatory requirements relating to listed derivatives markets.
