Haken Application Engineer (Java - Spring Boot)

This is a contract Application Engineer role with one of Japan's leading e-commerce companies, supporting large-scale systems that process millions of daily transactions nationwide. You will work on high-traffic internal business systems, collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced, global engineering environment. This role is open only to candidates currently residing in Japan.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop scalable internal business systems using Java and Spring Boot
• Maintain and optimize system performance through monitoring, incident response, and change management
• Collaborate with product managers and technical teams to translate business requirements into technical designs
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues to ensure high availability of core e-commerce services
• Improve development processes by implementing automated testing and CI/CD pipelines

Required Skills and Qualifications

Experience:

• 5+ years of enterprise-level software development experience
• 3+ years of hands-on Java development using the Spring Framework
• Experience in system operations, including incident and change management
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices such as version control and code reviews

Soft Skills:

• Strong problem-solving ability in production environments
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
• Structured and proactive communication style

Language Requirements:

• Japanese: Business level
• English: Conversational level

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with frontend frameworks such as React, Vue, or Angular
• Experience using Docker for containerization and microservices
• Background in large-scale, high-concurrency e-commerce or fintech systems
