    This is a high-impact contract opportunity to lead a strategic transformation project within a global asset management firm operating in Japan. As a Strategic Project Manager, you will play a central role in designing and implementing a modern Target Operating Model (TOM) that enhances fund management and valuation operations. Working closely with senior leadership, technology teams, and external partners, this role offers direct exposure to executive decision-making and large-scale operational change in the Japanese financial services market.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the design and implementation of a comprehensive Target Operating Model for fund operations and valuation processes
    • Collaborate with global and domestic custodial banks, trust banks, and financial technology vendors on technical and operational discussions
    • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives across IT infrastructure, middle- and back-office operations, and regulatory compliance teams
    • Develop detailed documentation including data flows, system interactions, and operational process maps for executive stakeholders
    • Deliver strategic analysis covering cost-benefit assessments, risk mitigation strategies, and phased implementation roadmaps

    Required Skills and Qualifications

    Experience:
    • Over 6 years of experience in project management, business analysis, or strategic operations within the Japanese financial services or asset management sector
    • Strong background in asset management operations, fund accounting, valuation, or middle-office functions
    • Proven ability to bridge business requirements and IT architecture in complex, regulated environments
    Soft Skills:
    • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior executives and cross-functional teams
    • Excellent communication skills, capable of translating complex technical concepts into clear business language
    • High level of professionalism and diplomacy when managing external vendors, trust banks, and regulatory-facing discussions
    Language Requirements:
    • Japanese: Fluent
    • English: Fluent

    Preferred Skills & Qualifications

    • Deep understanding of asset management lifecycle and operational frameworks in Japan
    • Experience working with large-scale financial reporting systems and vendor-managed platforms
    • Prior involvement in enterprise-level operating model or infrastructure transformation projects
