    Policies and Governance Officer

    Dublin City Centre Contract €50k - €70k

    Policies and Governance Officer

    About the job

My client is seeking a Policies and Governance Officer to play a key role in strengthening organisational governance and policy frameworks. Working directly with the CEO and closely with members of the Senior Management team, this role will ensure the organisation maintains the highest standards of governance, compliance and strategic oversight.

    Key Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will:

    • Develop a high-level workplan based on a recent gap analysis of policies and governance documentation, identifying priorities in consultation with the CEO.

    • Implement the workplan, drawing on public service best practice and benchmarking against comparable organisations.

    • Coordinate with external experts where specialist input is required.

    • Provide regular progress reports to the CEO and prepare briefing notes for governance structures.

    • Ensure all updated policies and documentation receive the necessary approvals through the Senior Management Team and Council.

    • Establish a forward-looking schedule for reviewing and updating policies and governance documentation.

    • Support the quarterly update of the organisation's Risk Register, liaising with risk owners and relevant staff.

    • Develop and implement a communication strategy for new and updated policies, including training sessions for staff on governance and risk.

    • Assist in the preparation of online registers for contracts and research grants.

    • Collaborate with the Strategy Implementation and Impact Officer on the development of the organisation's 2025-2029 strategy.

    Requirements:

They are seeking a candidate who is highly organised, detail-oriented and able to work effectively with senior leaders across the organisation. The ideal candidate will bring:

    • Experience in the public sector or a higher education institution (highly desirable).

    • A strong track record in governance, operational and strategic policy development.

    • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

    • The ability to balance multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outputs to deadlines.
