We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Assistant to join a busy finance team on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract. The role, based in Co. Tipperary is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience across accounts payable and receivable who enjoys working in a varied role and wants to further develop their finance career.
The successful candidate will support the day-to-day financial operations of the business, helping to ensure accurate financial processing, strong cash flow management, and compliance with statutory requirements. The role also provides exposure to payroll and Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT), making it an excellent opportunity to broaden your experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process supplier invoices and credit notes accurately and efficiently.
- Match invoices to purchase orders and delivery documentation.
- Reconcile supplier statements and resolve account queries.
- Prepare supplier payment runs and maintain supplier records.
- Raise and issue customer invoices and allocate customer payments.
- Monitor outstanding debtor balances and assist with credit control activities.
- Reconcile customer accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Support the administration of Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT), including subcontractor verification, payment notifications and Revenue submissions.
- Provide payroll cover as required, assisting with timesheets, payroll inputs and statutory deductions.
- Complete bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
- Support external audits and financial reporting activities.
- Assist with project costing and other finance-related administrative duties as required.
Key Requirements:
- 2-3 years' experience in a similar accounting or finance position.
- Strong working knowledge of Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
- Excellent numerical skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Experience administering Relevant Contracts Tax (RCT).
- Previous exposure to payroll processing.
- Experience working within construction, engineering or a project-based environment.
