    About the job

    Head of Manufacturing

We are looking for a highly motivated and capable leader to take on a senior role within a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will join the senior management team and play an integral role in driving operational excellence and supporting the organisation's long-term success.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Manufacturing Services professional to influence the performance and efficiency of key operational service centres that directly support final assembly processes.

The role encompasses leadership of multiple manufacturing support functions-such as moulding, surface-mount assembly, and facilities operations-while ensuring consistent standards in efficiency, quality, cost control, safety, and technological advancement.

    Key Responsibilities

    Operational & Capacity Planning

    • Develop and manage production capacity plans and workflow strategies to maximise resource utilisation and maintain targeted output levels.

    • Lead and coordinate day-to-day operations across moulding and surface-mount assembly through supervisory and management teams.

    • Play a key role in achieving plant-wide KPIs and driving performance across all manufacturing support areas.

    • Implement strategic initiatives that align with organisational goals and provide clear direction to operational teams.

    Quality Leadership

    • Establish and oversee robust quality control systems to uphold internal standards and meet customer requirements.

    • Monitor and analyse key quality indicators such as defect rates, PPM levels, 6S performance, and yield metrics.

    Cost & Budget Management

    • Control and review production-related costs, ensuring labour, materials, and overhead expenditure remains within budget.

    • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety, quality, or operational effectiveness.

    Continuous Improvement

    • Lead continuous improvement efforts across all manufacturing service functions.

    • Assess processes, equipment, and workflow designs to drive efficiency, eliminate waste, and increase productivity.

    Team Leadership & Development

    • Manage and develop a team of technical professionals.

    • Oversee recruitment, training initiatives, performance management, and skill development.

    • Promote a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing work environment.

    Health, Safety & Compliance

    • Enforce strong health and safety practices to minimise risk and ensure compliance with all safety standards.

    • Work in partnership with safety and compliance teams to maintain high standards across facilities and support services.

    Sustainability & Energy Management

    • Champion organisation-wide sustainability programmes to support net-carbon-neutral targets by 2030.

    • Ensure compliance with relevant energy management standards, including ISO 50001.

    Technology & Innovation

    • Stay informed on advancements in manufacturing technologies and automation.

    • Introduce and integrate new systems and technologies that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and support long-term operational improvement.

    Candidate Requirements

    • Minimum of 7 years' experience in operational or technical management roles, ideally within a manufacturing or team-based industrial environment.

    • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
