Head of Manufacturing
We are looking for a highly motivated and capable leader to take on a senior role within a fast-paced, evolving manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will join the senior management team and play an integral role in driving operational excellence and supporting the organisation's long-term success.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned Manufacturing Services professional to influence the performance and efficiency of key operational service centres that directly support final assembly processes.
The role encompasses leadership of multiple manufacturing support functions-such as moulding, surface-mount assembly, and facilities operations-while ensuring consistent standards in efficiency, quality, cost control, safety, and technological advancement.
Key Responsibilities
Operational & Capacity Planning

Develop and manage production capacity plans and workflow strategies to maximise resource utilisation and maintain targeted output levels.

Lead and coordinate day-to-day operations across moulding and surface-mount assembly through supervisory and management teams.

Play a key role in achieving plant-wide KPIs and driving performance across all manufacturing support areas.

Implement strategic initiatives that align with organisational goals and provide clear direction to operational teams.
Quality Leadership

Establish and oversee robust quality control systems to uphold internal standards and meet customer requirements.

Monitor and analyse key quality indicators such as defect rates, PPM levels, 6S performance, and yield metrics.
Cost & Budget Management

Control and review production-related costs, ensuring labour, materials, and overhead expenditure remains within budget.

Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety, quality, or operational effectiveness.
Continuous Improvement

Lead continuous improvement efforts across all manufacturing service functions.

Assess processes, equipment, and workflow designs to drive efficiency, eliminate waste, and increase productivity.
Team Leadership & Development

Manage and develop a team of technical professionals.

Oversee recruitment, training initiatives, performance management, and skill development.

Promote a collaborative, supportive, and high-performing work environment.
Health, Safety & Compliance
-
Enforce strong health and safety practices to minimise risk and ensure compliance with all safety standards.

Work in partnership with safety and compliance teams to maintain high standards across facilities and support services.
Sustainability & Energy Management

Champion organisation-wide sustainability programmes to support net-carbon-neutral targets by 2030.

Ensure compliance with relevant energy management standards, including ISO 50001.
Technology & Innovation

Stay informed on advancements in manufacturing technologies and automation.

Introduce and integrate new systems and technologies that enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and support long-term operational improvement.
Candidate Requirements

Minimum of 7 years' experience in operational or technical management roles, ideally within a manufacturing or team-based industrial environment.

Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience).
