Role Overview
We are seeking an Accounts Assistant to support the day-to-day finance operations of the business. This role involves transactional accounting, reconciliations, and administrative finance duties, while working closely with senior finance team members. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organised, and motivated to develop their accounting skills within the healthcare sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and on time.
- Prepare and post supplier invoices, staff expenses, and customer receipts.
- Perform bank, creditor, and debtor reconciliations.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including journals and accruals.
- Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper filing of financial documentation.
- Support the preparation of management reports and financial statements.
- Assist with VAT returns and other regulatory or compliance reporting as required.
- Liaise with internal departments and external vendors to resolve invoice or payment queries.
- Support audits and internal controls by providing documentation and explanations when required.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency within the finance function.
Skills & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
- 1-3 years' experience in an accounts or finance role.
- Experience working in healthcare or a regulated environment is advantageous.
- Strong proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with accounting systems or ERP software is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and manage multiple priorities.
- Studying or interest in pursuing a professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) is a plus.
