My client, a leading multinational company headquartered in Kilkenny, is seeking a Project Accountant to join their Accounting & Reporting team on a 12 mth contract. This role will play a key part in the implementation of a SAP Group Reporting system and is ideally suited to a technically strong finance professional with a keen interest in finance transformation, systems implementation, and process optimisation.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the future-state Group reporting environment, supporting the design, testing, validation, and change management activities across the full project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of the new Group Reporting and Consolidation solution
- Support the definition of future-state reporting requirements, including chart of accounts, consolidation structures, account mapping, reporting templates, and disclosure requirements
- Participate in process mapping, documenting current and future-state consolidation and reporting workflows
- Lead or support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including scenario design, test execution, documentation of results, and remediation actions
- Perform data validation activities, including trial balance uploads, mapping accuracy checks, intercompany reporting testing, and opening balance conversion
- Support the development of enhanced controls and governance frameworks within the new reporting environment
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, IT, project managers, and external advisors to ensure successful delivery of project milestones
- Prepare training materials, process documentation, and SOPs, and contribute to end-user training and post-implementation support
- Participate in project governance forums, providing clear updates on risks, timelines, dependencies, and testing outcomes
Key Requirements:
- Professional Accounting Qualification (ACA / ACCA / CIMA / CPA) with 2-3 years' post-qualification experience, ideally in a multinational organisation or professional practice
- Strong financial reporting (IAS/IFRS) and risk management experience
- Experience in finance transformation, systems implementation, or process optimisation, preferably with SAP or other ERP systems
- Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills with a strong project mindset
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to collaborate across teams and clearly present complex financial information
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and strong capability with financial systems and reporting tools
