Job Title: Site Engineer
Job Purpose
Working closely with the Project Manager, Site Manager, and Senior Engineer, the Site Engineer is responsible for setting out, technical supervision, quality control, and ensuring the accurate delivery of works in line with project drawings, specifications, and safety guidelines. This role covers large-scale commercial, residential, industrial, or civil engineering developments across Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
1. Engineering & Setting Out
- Perform precise setting-out, levelling, and surveying using Total Stations, GPS, and Robotic Total Stations.
- Read, interpret, and cross-reference structural, architectural, and MEP drawings and specifications to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Prepare and update accurately formatted as-built drawings and site surveys.
2. Quality & Compliance
- Ensure all construction works comply with the Irish Building Regulations, Building Control Amendment Regulations (BCAR), and company Quality Management Systems (QMS).
- Maintain site quality documentation, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and complete technical submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs).
- Conduct regular quality inspections, manage defect/snagging lists, and monitor material deliveries against project specifications.
3. Site Supervision & Coordination
- Supervise, guide, and coordinate daily activities of direct labor and specialist subcontractors on-site.
- Coordinate directly with external project stakeholders, including design consultants, structural engineers, and client representatives.
- Track site progress against the master construction programme to help maintain key milestones.
4. Health, Safety & Environment
- Promote and uphold strict Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards across the site.
- Assist in drafting Method Statements, Risk Assessments (RAMS), and daily site briefings/toolbox talks.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or Construction Management (or equivalent recognized by Engineers Ireland).
- Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of site engineering experience with a recognized main contractor or sub-contractor in Ireland or the UK.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with modern surveying instruments (Leica, Trimble Total Stations/GPS).
- Competency in AutoCAD, BIM / Navisworks, and MS Office.
- Familiarity with BCAR requirements and digital QA platforms (e.g., Field View, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud).
- Certifications:
- Current Safe Pass card.
- Manual Handling certificate.
- Full, clean Irish/EU Driving License.
