The Opportunity:
We are seeking a forward-thinking and commercially driven Procurement Category Manager to take ownership of our Direct Materials category. This role is critical in shaping and executing robust sourcing strategies, managing the full supplier lifecycle, and delivering value across the end-to-end supply chain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and own the category strategy for Direct Materials, aligned to business objectives, market dynamics, and long-term goals
- Conduct in-depth spend and market analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings, innovation, and risk mitigation
- Lead the end-to-end supplier lifecycle, including sourcing, onboarding, performance management, development, and, where needed, exit strategies
- Build and maintain strong supplier partnerships to ensure consistent quality, service, and innovation
- Lead commercial negotiations and contractual agreements, ensuring alignment with internal policies and compliance standards
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Manufacturing, Quality, Finance, and Global Procurement
- Monitor external market trends and geopolitical developments to proactively manage supply risks and opportunities
- Drive sustainability initiatives and ethical sourcing practices within the category
About You:
- A minimum of 5 years' procurement experience, ideally within the FMCG, manufacturing, or related sectors
- Proven expertise in managing Direct Materials categories (e.g. ingredients, packaging, raw inputs)
- Demonstrated experience in developing and executing category strategies
- Strong understanding of supplier relationship and lifecycle management
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills
- Commercially astute, data-driven, and strategic in approach
- Degree-qualified in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline (CIPS certification is an advantage)
