Mechanical Design Engineer (Contractor - Dublin)
Location: Dublin Office - Onsite, 5 days/week
Commitment: 40 hours/week, 12-month contract
We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our mechanical engineering team, supporting the design and construction of large-scale data centre facilities across EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa).
You'll work closely with senior engineers and stakeholders across design, construction, and sustainability. This is an opportunity to contribute to high-value infrastructure projects where your engineering solutions directly impact operational efficiency and reliability.
This is a fully onsite role based in Dublin, with all office resources, tools, and support provided.
Support HVAC and mechanical design for critical infrastructure within new build data centres.
Manage and collaborate with design consultancy firms to create, review, and release designs.
Review and approve equipment submittals.
Collaborate with internal teams to troubleshoot design issues and implement corrective actions.
Define project scopes and support construction phases.
Work with vendors and manufacturers to specify appropriate mechanical equipment.
Travel for site reviews, engineering evaluations, and audits.
Participate in knowledge-sharing and learn organization-specific design standards.
Offer creative, out-of-the-box solutions to engineering challenges.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or related field).
5+ years' experience in HVAC, data centre cooling, electronics cooling, or building services.
Ability to research and implement new designs, technologies, and construction methods.
Capable of taking design concepts from idea to deployment.
Strong business case analysis skills to justify technical decisions.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Chartered Engineer with a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in mission-critical facility design (e.g., pharmaceutical, hospital, semiconductor).
Knowledge of BIM & CFD modelling.
Experience managing consultants, fast-track projects, or large-scale upgrades.
Familiarity with large-scale technical operations, compute facilities, and building codes/regulat
