A rapidly growing multi-site retail business is seeking a dynamic and commercially driven Head of Group Procurement to lead the strategic development of a newly established group-wide procurement function.
Reporting directly to the CFO, this high-impact leadership role will shape and drive procurement strategy across diverse categories, delivering value through data-driven decision making, supplier excellence, and cost optimisation.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Procurement Leadership
- Design and execute a procurement strategy aligned with group-wide commercial and operational objectives.
- Monitor supplier market trends, pricing dynamics, and availability risks - particularly across FMCG and indirect goods categories.
- Champion sustainability and ESG goals through responsible sourcing and long-term supplier partnerships.
Category & Supplier Management
- Oversee procurement across core categories.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments.
- Lead supplier negotiations, performance reviews, and compliance processes, ensuring optimal commercial terms and service levels.
- Foster a proactive, solution-oriented mindset across the function.
Operational Excellence & Compliance
- Implement and refine procurement policies, systems, and controls to enhance efficiency, transparency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure all activities meet regulatory and internal compliance standards.
Financial Oversight
- Manage the group procurement budget, ensuring delivery of cost savings and value creation.
- Leverage data analytics and KPIs to inform procurement decisions and senior-level reporting.
Candidate Profile:
Key Experience & Skills
- 10 years' procurement experience in a fast-paced, multi-site environment (e.g., retail, convenience, FMCG)
- Deep knowledge of direct and indirect category sourcing, vendor models, and supply chain operations.
- Strong commercial negotiation, supplier relationship, and cost management capabilities.
- Advanced data literacy with hands-on experience using procurement/ERP systems.
- Proven track record managing diverse stakeholders and driving operational improvement.

- Strong communicator with the ability to influence at all levels - from boardroom to frontline.

Qualifications
