Fleet Manager
Reporting to the National Fleet Manager, this role is responsible for the day-to-day governance, compliance and performance of the company's commercial delivery fleet and company car fleet.
Based from the Dublin Distribution Centre, the role requires regular nationwide travel to regional depots and third-party maintenance providers. You will play a key role in ensuring the fleet operates safely, efficiently, cost-effectively and in full legislative compliance, while supporting transport operations and continuous improvement initiatives.
Continuously monitor and audit the fleet management system, ensuring all vehicle documentation, inspections and test reports are completed accurately and on time in line with Irish, UK and EU legislation.
Manage and oversee third-party maintenance providers, ensuring scheduled servicing and repairs are completed to agreed standards and timelines.
Audit vehicle repair records and supporting documentation to ensure vehicles remain fully roadworthy at all times.
Analyse fleet costs and fuel performance trends, identifying anomalies and driving corrective actions to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
Support transport management teams with fleet and tachograph compliance, conducting regular site audits and providing insights to improve operational performance.
Manage the end-to-end fleet accident process, including investigations, repairs, claims management, reporting and root cause analysis, supporting a strong safety-first culture.
Ensure full compliance with all statutory and legislative requirements governing commercial vehicle operations, protecting the organisation's licence to operate.
Review and monitor statutory maintenance arrangements, service intervals, safety inspections, ancillary equipment certification and calibration across the fleet.
Monitor driver compliance nationally, ensuring licences, tachograph records and working time regulations are adhered to and appropriately managed.
Track KPIs relating to working time directive and tachograph infringements, aligned with RSA / DVSA and Earned Recognition standards.
Monitor CVRT / MOT pass rates across regions and work with stakeholders to address any underperformance.
Audit daily vehicle walkaround and defect reporting processes through depot visits, gate checks and garage audits.
Ensure telematics, CCTV and vehicle safety systems are fully operational through regular audits and timely issue resolution.
Support fleet-related projects and prepare regular performance and compliance reports for senior management.
Maintain data integrity across all fleet systems and databases, addressing any non-conformances.
Review, update and implement fleet compliance policies and procedures, supporting regional teams with rollout and adherence.
Proven experience working within a high-volume distribution, logistics or transport environment.
Strong working knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and tachograph compliance.
Familiarity with FTAI TruckSafe standards, the Commercial Vehicle Roadworthiness Act and DVSA requirements.
Previous experience in fleet management, transport compliance or a closely related role.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, along with web-based fleet and compliance systems.
Highly analytical, with the ability to collect, interpret and present large volumes of operational data.
Full driving licence and own vehicle (nationwide travel is required).
Flexible, self-motivated and capable of working independently and as part of a wider operations team.
A technical or transport-related qualification is advantageous.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving capability and a continuous improvement mindset.
Confident user of fleet management software, telematics and compliance tools.
