We are supporting a leading manufacturer in the critical power and electrical infrastructure sector in the appointment of an experienced Electrical Design Engineer / Project Manager.
This is a senior, hands-on role requiring strong LV switchgear expertise combined with the ability to independently manage projects from initial technical enquiry through to final client handover.
The ideal candidate will be confident operating in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with minimal ramp-up required.
🔧 Key Technical Focus Areas (Priority Skills)
Candidates must demonstrate strong experience in:
⚡ LV Switchgear Design
- End-to-end design of low-voltage switchgear systems
- Understanding of panel layouts, protection devices, busbar systems, and power distribution architecture
- Design for manufacturing and assembly (DFA/DfM considerations)
⚡ 3-Phase Power Systems
- Strong grasp of 3-phase electrical design principles
- Load distribution, fault levels, discrimination, and protection coordination
- Practical application in industrial / critical infrastructure environments
⚡ Electrical Design & Documentation
- Production of schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and general arrangement drawings
- Technical calculations and specification development
- Compliance with relevant electrical standards and client specifications
⚡ Project Ownership
- Management of projects from RFQ through to delivery and handover
- Coordination with production, engineering, and site teams
- Control of technical scope, programme, and client expectations
⚡ Client & Stakeholder Management
- Direct client interaction during design, delivery, and FAT stages
- Resolution of technical queries and management of design changes
- Confidence operating as the key technical point of contact
🧠 Technical Environment
Experience in the following is highly desirable:
- LV switchgear manufacturing or critical power systems
- Data centre electrical infrastructure
- Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)
- AutoCAD (essential) and/or EPLAN (advantageous)
- ERP/MRP systems and technical documentation platforms (e.g. Procore)
