The Role
The successful candidate will join a large and dynamic supply chain & finance team supporting multiple business functions across the EMEIA region. This position sits within the Trade Compliance team, with responsibility for supporting Customs and Indirect Tax compliance activities across Europe, the Middle East, India, and Africa.
Working in a hybrid model, this temporary role will focus on customs operations, regulatory compliance, process improvement, and stakeholder collaboration across a highly automated supply chain network.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide daily operational support for the customs clearance of goods and shipments across Finished Goods, Retail, R&D, and local business entities.
- Review and approve invoices relating to import VAT, customs duties, and associated charges across the EFTA region.
- Prepare and issue Certificates of Origin for customers in relevant markets.
- Investigate and resolve customs clearance errors, working with internal teams to implement long-term system and process solutions.
- Support the continuous improvement of customs and trade compliance processes in line with evolving business requirements.
- Manage and monitor highly automated customs clearance systems, ensuring smooth and compliant execution of shipments.
- Partner closely with cross-functional teams including Retail, Logistics, Planning, Accounts Payable, Supply Chain, and Finance.
- Respond to requests and queries from Customs and Tax Authorities in relation to trade compliance matters.
- Develop a strong understanding of the wider supply chain to ensure effective customs compliance support.
- Maintain accurate documentation and records in line with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with audits, internal reviews, and compliance reporting activities as required.
- Support ad hoc projects and initiatives relating to customs operations, systems enhancements, and regional compliance changes.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in customs compliance, trade compliance, indirect tax, or supply chain operations.
- Strong knowledge of HTS classification, customs valuation, and rules of origin for imports and exports.
- Good understanding of EU, UK, and EFTA customs regulations and trade compliance requirements.
- Strong systems experience, including Excel and SAP or similar ERP platforms.
- Supply chain or logistics experience would be a distinct advantage.
