Design Engineer (Packaging)

Morgan McKinley Recruitment is partnering with a well-established industrial packaging and logistics company in Bandon, Cork, to hire a Design Engineer to join their growing team.

The Role

This is a design-focused engineering position supporting the development of bespoke protective and transit packaging solutions. Alongside core design work, the role includes estimation, materials planning, and occasional office support during quieter periods.

Key Responsibilities

• Design custom packaging solutions using CAD software

• Produce drawings, layouts, and design documentation

• Support CAD-based cost estimation

• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)

• Liaise with production, purchasing, and commercial teams

• Provide general office support (e.g. purchasing assistance) when required

Software

• Impact CAD (training provided)

• Experience with AutoDesk or similar CAD software is highly transferable

About You

• Ideally 1-2 years' experience in design engineering or a related field

• Open to candidates with strong CAD skills and relevant project experience

• Practical, adaptable, and comfortable in an SME environment

• Willing to take on varied responsibilities beyond pure design work
