Head of Finance IT

Role Purpose

The Head of Finance IT is a senior leadership role responsible for the end-to-end ownership, strategic direction, and operational excellence of the Finance technology estate. This position bridges the gap between core Finance operations and Global IT, ensuring that systems are robust, scalable, and perfectly aligned with enterprise objectives.

You will lead the architectural evolution of the Finance function, driving value through automation, data integrity, and the continuous improvement of the digital tools that power a high-performance Finance organization.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Technology Roadmap

• Own the long-term Finance IT strategy, ensuring it supports broader business transformation and sustainability goals.

• Lead the evaluation and implementation of new financial systems, ERP modules, and digital tools (e.g., SAP S4/Hana).

• Act as the primary strategic partner between Finance leadership and the Global IT function to ensure technical solutions meet operational needs.

2. Systems Governance & Operational Excellence

• Maintain the integrity, security, and stability of the Finance IT ecosystem across all domains.

• Define and monitor technical performance standards (KPIs) to ensure system availability and high-quality user experience for the Finance team.

• Oversee the Finance "Service Catalogue," ensuring that all technical service offerings are clearly defined, accessible, and continuously optimized.

3. Digital Transformation & Automation

• Identify and execute opportunities for process standardization, simplification, and automation across Finance operations.

• Lead the technical workstreams for Finance transformation programs, including system upgrades and data migration projects.

• Support the "Work Smart" hybrid model by ensuring seamless remote access and collaboration capabilities within the Finance tech stack.

4. Incident Management & Risk Mitigation

• Provide leadership on the resolution of high-level escalated service incidents, addressing root causes to enhance system reliability.

• Ensure all Finance IT processes comply with internal controls, regulatory requirements, and data governance standards.

• Manage technical risks proactively, maintaining a robust mitigation plan for critical financial systems.

Core Competencies & Qualifications:

• Experience: Significant experience leading Finance IT or Business Systems functions within a large, complex organization.

• Leadership: Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and lead cross-functional teams through significant periods of change.

• Technical Depth: Expert understanding of Finance operations, Shared Services environments, and enterprise-scale ERP systems.

• Innovation: A strategic and innovative mindset with a demonstrated track record of delivering operational excellence through technology.

• Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving capabilities with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

• Education: Degree in Computer Science, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. A professional accounting qualification (ACCA/CIMA) is highly desirable.
