Finance Director - Contract - Dublin - €150k
Morgan McKinley are representing a multinational energy company, to recruit a Interim Finance Director for their Dublin office. This is an excellent opportunity to join a progressive, growing and highly acquisitive business. The Finance Director will be responsible for the overall financial direction of the company and will play a pivotal role in managing and engaging with senior stakeholders. The role therefore requires an individual with the adaptability, expertise and experience necessary to operate at this level and support the Managing Director in day-to-day operations. As part of a small team, the individual needs to manage all aspects of the finance function and be comfortable working in a lean "start-up" type organisation with multiple 3rd party providers of services.
The FD will report to the Managing Director and will play a commercial role in influencing strategic decisions by being the "face of finance" and having key responsibility for all aspects of finance management including:
Responsible for the full cycle of accounting operations, including cash, banking, AR, AP, payroll, preparation of period financial statements and related regulatory matters etc.
Preparing budgets and forecasts and managing costs to budget; Providing the Board and with financial analysis, having overall ownership for the delivery of group financial statements;
Support the MD in managing a sizeable reserve backed loan facility;
Cashflow management in relation to significant revenue flows and forecasting to ensure sufficient liquidity to meet cash calls;
Ongoing compliance with regulatory issues as they relate to finance, including tax and audit;
Contracting with, and overseeing, third party service providers as and when needed e.g. tax services, payroll, invoicing, finance operations etc.;
Risk management (Treasury, FX);
Review the monthly financial results and provide variance analysis from budget and prior forecasts;
Qualified accountant with strong accounting experience and a thorough knowledge of IFRS with 10+ years post qualified;
PLC Experience & board reporting experience a must
Understanding of project level economics and ROI metrics;
Experience of managing significant cash flows and implementing sound controls;
Commercial acumen and project execution;
An analytical thinker who can delve into detail to capture, summarise and present key issues;
Entrepreneurial spirit with a 'doer' mentality - someone who is willing to get stuck into the detail and managing all aspects of the finance function from the top, down;
Strong negotiation skills e.g. for joint venture budget, bank meetings, dealing with external audit etc.;
Experienced in setting and presenting financial strategy;
Experience managing reserve backed loan facilities;
Experience in presenting budgets, forecasts and financial results to a Board and shareholders;
Experience of managing third party suppliers of outsourced services.
Understanding of the oil and gas sector;
Experience of working in a private equity backed company.
