Job Description

Employee Relations Manager with a strong background in Trade Union Negotiations and Governance required for a 14 month FTC with leading Irish retail Bank

Employee Relations Manager ( 14 Month FTC)

Location: Dublin City Centre

Salary: €70,000

The Role:

  • Input, develop and manage the Trade Union relationship strategy to provide a voice for all
    employees

  • Manage the negotiation of key strategic change initiatives with unions including the annual
    pay review

  • Continuously contribute towards the improvement of Employee Relations processes and systems

  • Liaise with the HR Business Partner team and business to identify potential employee issues
    and proactively provide solutions for dealing with them

  • Manage significant industrial relations issues and provide guidance on less complex cases

  • Research, monitor and assure compliance with existing and emerging employment legislation
    and case law

  • Prepare and represent the Bank at hearings such as the WRC, Labour Court or other
    appropriate body

  • Assist in ensuring that people management practices are in line with legislative requirements
    and best HR practice providing training and lessons learned on Industrial Relations when
    necessary

  • Ensure all governance in policy and procedure changes are followed and prepare papers for
    governing bodies in line with review periods

  • Provide support to the business units in relation to Employee Relations issues

  • Create a culture of prevention rather than reaction by ensuring managers and colleagues are
    kept up to date on best practice and individual responsibilities

  • Proactively build relationships with the various Trade Unions creating an open two-way
    dialogue relationship

  • Regularly liaise and inform Trade Union representatives of changes that may impact on
    members

Requirements:

  • Experience negotiating with a number of diverse staff representative groups

  • Experience of managing and resolving significant industrial relations issues

  • Experience in negotiating and implementing pay strategies and annual pay reviews

  • Experience in managing WRC and Labour Court cases

  • Alternative dispute resolution experience

  • Excellent verbal, written and influencing communication skills

  • Deep understanding of employment law

  • Relevant higher professional qualification

  • 5 + years' experience with ER experience

  • Qualification relating to employment law, industrial relations or other related topic

  • Experience with alternative dispute relation such as mediation

  • Experience in preparing and presenting WRC and Labour Court cases
