Job Description

A recognised Global leader in FMCG seeks an experienced Category Manager to join their team and help drive their procurement strategies

This is a senior role within the procurement team which services the procurement needs of the Irish division. The Senior Category Manager will lead the development, maintenance and execution of effective procurement strategies for their categories with regards to service performance, quality, cost, innovation, sustainability and ethical sourcing.

Key elements of the role:

  • Provide professional procurement expertise to deliver key business objectives (cost, delivery performance, risk mitigation, innovation, etc.) in the areas of Capital Equipment, CAPEX projects, project management consulting services, maintenance spares and contractors, energy and chemicals.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders within the business unit
  • Develop category strategies and manage relationships with all relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and commitment to implementation
  • Develop and manage key supplier relationships
  • Management of end to end vendor contracts process
  • On-going management and rationalisation of vendors across each category area to ensure consolidation of spend to preferred suppliers.
  • Liaise with key business unit stakeholders to co-ordinate, measure and communicate a programme of energy conservation activities between all business units and benchmark performance

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified in a related discipline

Skills / Experience

  • Experienced Procurement professional with a minimum of 7 years' experience within these or similar category areas Capex, Engineering or Chemicals
  • The ability to effectively communicate, influence and collaborate with key stakeholders.
  • Purchasing and vendor management experience in other categories is desirable.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, Ariba, purchasing tools and processes (e.g. catalogue and eProcurement) while not essential will be an advantage.
  • Financial understanding in the analysis and reporting of CAPEX programmes/results/forecasts/budgets and compliance to policies.
