About the job
On behalf of a global market-making firm with a strong focus on quantitative and electronic execution, we are handling the search for a Systematic Trader to join the live trading desk.
Main responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day operation of systematic trading and execution strategies, including real-time risk decisions, response to market changes, order flow patterns, and platform alerts.
- Work directly with quantitative researchers, developers, and technology teams on platform maintenance, improvements, and deployment of new functionality.
- Develop practical knowledge of market microstructure, traded products, venue rules, and internal systems to support expansion into additional markets or instruments where required.
- Identify and contribute to enhancements in trading infrastructure, risk controls, monitoring tools, and execution logic.
- Monitor live strategy performance and market conditions; detect and act on significant deviations or trends.
- Prepare and apply structured responses for major news events, macro developments, and periods of elevated volatility.
- Maintain direct responsibility for risk limits, protective mechanisms, and trading discretion during live sessions.
Background and skills sought
- Degree in a quantitative field (Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Economics or similar) from a recognised university.
- Previous experience in electronic trading, systematic execution, market making, or similar quantitative trading roles.
- Ability to make timely, defensible decisions in a live, fast-moving environment while considering both detail and broader context.
- Independent working style with a record of taking initiative and delivering practical outcomes.
- Clear written and verbal communication; strong attention to detail.
Technical experience that is useful
- Working knowledge of Python for data handling, analysis, backtesting, or production-related tasks.
- Exposure to Linux environments is beneficial.
- Familiarity with real-time market data, execution algorithms, or market microstructure is advantageous.
