On behalf of a global quantitative investment manager, we are managing the search for a Market Data Analyst to join the market data operations team in Hong Kong.
Main responsibilities
- Manage market data contracts and keep accurate records in the inventory system, including pricing, user entitlements, department allocations and related details.
- Handle day-to-day interactions with data vendors and exchanges: respond to queries, request information, and resolve issues as they arise.
- Prepare and submit required regulatory and exchange reports, including month-end obligations.
- Track exchange notifications and policy updates, determine necessary actions, and apply changes to internal systems and records.
- Contribute to the development of internal tools and processes to improve efficiency in market data management.
- Maintain organised documentation linking contracts to pricing, usage limits, entitlements and other key attributes.
- Support audit preparation and ensure accurate and timely reconciliation of market data invoices.
Background and skills required
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience working with market data, ideally in an analyst or operations role.
- Direct experience dealing with major exchanges (e.g. LSE, NYSE, Nasdaq) and/or data providers (e.g. Bloomberg, Refinitiv/LSEG, FactSet).
- Familiarity with permissioning and entitlement systems such as DACS, EMRS or similar platforms.
- Working knowledge of reference data, market data feeds, index data and non-display usage rules.
- Strong ability to work with large datasets, primarily in Excel, and to summarise and present findings clearly.
- Methodical approach with high attention to detail; comfortable maintaining structured records in online systems.
- Good awareness of the financial services or investment management sector.
- Clear communication skills, able to convey information at both summary and detailed levels.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a time-sensitive environment.
Additional experience that is useful (not essential)
- Exposure to inventory management or entitlement tracking systems.
- Understanding of access controls, system provisioning and user limit management.
- Previous work in a quantitative trading, systematic investment, or hedge fund environment.
