Job Description

Global investment bank seeks an Assistant Manager as part of their expanding Market risk Platforms function.

Within Risk, a vacancy exists in the Market Risk Platforms team, to support this vision for the Bank. You will be comfortable working at a fast pace and in a collaborative and changing environment, supporting this by applying agile change delivery techniques. Driving change will take place alongside key operational activities including ensuring delivery of accurate, timely and relevant risk and operational information to users within a controlled and governed framework.

You will use your appetite for technology, natural curiosity, technical capabilities and ability to learn new technology quickly to drive technical and operational capability enhancement across market and counterparty risk. Keeping up to date with trends across the industry will support you in undertaking this. Activities will also include coordinating with multiple groups of technology users from across market risk, each having differing business and technology requirements, seeking to identify synergies and opportunities to facilitate standardisation and sharing of technology and ideas, enhancing the collective capability.

As a Market Risk Platforms colleague, you will apply specialist risk knowledge and business analyst skills with a good appreciation of relevant and new technologies and how they can be leveraged to key responsibilities:

  • Analysis of current state, provide and coordinate ideas to deliver improvements, simplification and efficiencies.
  • Deliver proofs of concept aligned to the above.
  • Design and deliver automated robust and scalable processes to improve efficiency and drive a flexible and controlled approach to change via collaborative working balanced with independent problem solving when required.
  • Deploy and support your solutions into a production environment, creating a collaborative support framework.
  • Enhance colleague capabilities in alignment with technologies utilised.
  • Actively support the analysis of new risks, such a climate change risk.
  • Support the delivery of accurate, timely and relevant risk and operational information to users
  • Collaborate with colleague across market risk to deepen your risk understanding.
  • Support technology and market risk change impacting elements of the end to end Platforms operating model (data sources, report content, reporting processes or reporting technology).
  • Collaborate with Platforms, infrastructure and IT colleagues to drive change and contribute to the longer term goal of increased digitisation of processes, delivery and information, driving the embedding control structure and information at source where applicable.
  • Establish and build relationships with stakeholders to identify and understand business requirements and provide appropriate support and guidance, using technical and reporting expertise.

Your strong technology and programming skills will provide the basis for you delivering process and operating model automation, enhancing the user experience and improving data access and information delivery. An understanding of Market and / or Counterparty Risk framework and financial products will enhance your contribution.

Skills you will need to bring so we can successfully deliver include:

  • VBA will be essential for this, supported by a wider knowledge of technologies that can be leveraged for reporting and process automation.
  • A knowledge of python and its capabilities will also be of significant benefit. You will use such tools to enhance workflow processes, then building and incorporating web integration for user interfacing.
  • SQL for database querying and data querying and manipulation.
  • Knowledge of Tableau and experience building and delivering reports using business intelligence technologies will be beneficial.
  • Strong problem solving skills and good at information sharing and up-skilling others
  • Capable of delivering solution both collaboratively and independently when required
  • An appreciation of data warehousing, Hadoop data lakes to support data sourcing and interaction (with the opportunity to expand knowledge in these areas).
  • Knowledge of Agile change delivery & change management tools (JIRA, Confluence, ALM).
  • Knowledge of Dev Ops tools for controlled change delivery (GIT, TeamCity, Octopus) will be beneficial.
  • Communicate effectively, delivering complex information simply and concisely.
  • Strong stakeholder management.
  • Growth mindset, able to demonstrate effectiveness in applying new skills and capabilities
