Global asset manager seeks an AD level Investment Risk Oversight manager responsible for the framework and governance of all aspects of Investment Risk including market risk, derivatives risk, sub-adv

The risk team covers the management oversight of the firms risk profile including key risk frameworks, policies and procedures and oversight and challenge processes. The team partner with the businesses to ensure it manages its risk profile within defined risk appetite.

The team is circa 50-strong, and growing, covering all facets of risk management including investment, operational, enterprise, and technology risk. The function is currently being strengthened to enhance global risk type coverage across regions.

Investment Management Risk Oversight:

The Investment Risk Oversight team forms part of Global Risk and is responsible for the framework and governance of all aspects of Investment Risk including market risk, derivatives risk, sub-advised risk, fund liquidity risk and (fund and corporate) counterparty risk. The team also provides oversight of the Operational Risk and Model Risk associated with the Investment Process

The team works closely with the Investment Risk Analytics team which also forms part of Global Risk team.

Purpose of your role

The primary function of the role is to provide oversight all aspects of investment risk, across Fidelity's global fund range with a focus on local fund ranges offered in UK and Ireland.

The individual will be expected to focus on the implementation of the relevant investment risk frameworks in the region and the work closely with colleagues in Continental Europe and Asia to develop effective frameworks and ensuring best practice and knowledge sharing across the group.

In addition to risk frameworks the individual will be responsible for oversight of operational risk within the investment process and conducting thematic reviews focused on the investment division.

The individual will be expected to work effectively as part of a matrix organisation with a direct reporting line into the Head of Investment Risk Oversight in the UK and a dotted line into the UK Chief Risk Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Support the head of the department with establishing and implementing risk and governance framework for the oversight of investment risk
Prepare and present investment risk reporting to the UK Boards and relevant risk committees in conjunction with the UK CRO and Global Risk Reporting team.
Design and implement risk frameworks, policies and procedures for UK Legal Entities located in the region of employment, including implementation of new regulatory requirements
Provide review and challenge to operational risk event reporting that occur within the investment team. Work with the relevant teams to ensure effective mitigation plans and action tracking is in place.
Work with colleagues across the regional investment teams in Europe and Asia to ensure alignment of activities and sharing best practice.
To establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with all key internal stakeholders including the investment team, trading and Asset Management Operations.
Work on projects to enhance the effectiveness of the Investment Risk and Global Risk team as required.

Experience and Qualifications Required

Proven risk expertise within an asset management or financial services firm, ideally within an Investment Risk or Investment Operations or Compliance function.
A good understanding of Fund Regulations within UK and how they impact Equity, Fixed Income and Multi-Asset products.
Experience of working with front office investment teams, trading and operations.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to build work effectively with other internal functions and senior management in different areas and locations.
Strong stakeholder management skills and ability to face off to senior peers, stakeholders and board members.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a hands-on mentality
Dedicated to maintaining high standards with excellent attention to detail.
The ability to work independently and to tight deadlines
Educated to degree level or equivalent
