Eaton provides energy-efficient solutions that help their customers effectively manage power more efficiently, safely, and sustainably.

The Assignment

Eaton has embraced the digital world and their place in it to rethink innovation. They were seeking a passionate engineering leader to work with industrial power management products and services to lead and support this digital transformation.

The Director, Centre for Intelligent Power, would be a member of the Chief Technology Officer’s corporate team, reporting directly to the EVP/CTO (Chief Technology Officer) of the company.  This position would be responsible for the start-up of the IoT (Internet of Things) and data science team in Dublin, Ireland as well as providing overall leadership and direction for the Centre of Intelligent Power teams including locations in India and the United States.

Our Solution

Morgan McKinley was tasked to find, through our robust Executive Search process, an inspirational and innovative Software Engineering leader. The successful candidate would be tasked with building and mentoring a global software engineering team to develop, demystify and democratize data science and machine learning for IoT applications related to power management in the digital world.

While IoT, Data Science and Machine Learning are established and growing areas of expertise in Ireland, embedded software technology is not. And for the successful candidate we needed both. Morgan McKinley spread our net wide internationally and found an exceptional candidate who has since built a growing R&D and innovation team for this Fortune 500 corporation in Dublin, Ireland.

"After a thorough selection process, Eaton chose to work with Morgan McKinley as an Executive Search Partner in Dublin on a critical Engineering/Technology leadership role. Their Pan-European reach, coupled with their deep acumen on the location of talent and executive talent trends, made them a strong partner for our needs. The results have been excellent, the quality of the talent they presented represents their strong grasp on the market. Their project team conducts themselves with integrity high ethical standards”
