HR Operations Manager Tokyo - Global Retail HR Strategy

A leading global luxury group is seeking an experienced HR Operations Manager to oversee HR systems, operations, and strategic cross-functional initiatives across its portfolio of brands in Japan. This position plays a vital role in driving continuous improvement in HR service delivery, ensuring compliance, and supporting HR teams with daily operations, Workday optimization, and leadership development. You will work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment that values creativity, structure, and results.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head of HR Shared Services with all HR operations, including HRIS, data integrity, process improvement, and ad-hoc HR initiatives
- Lead HR operations projects, such as system upgrades, process rollouts, and workflow optimizations
- Use Workday to drive efficiency, manage transactions, and deliver consistent HR support
- Provide daily HR services across multiple brands, ensuring operational excellence
- Manage timelines, deliverables, and budgets for HR initiatives and projects
- Guide and coach the HR team by setting clear expectations and supporting capability development
- Ensure compliance with local employment laws and corporate policies
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Minimum 8 years of HR experience, with a strong focus on operations
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- Proficiency in Workday and understanding of HR systems and workflows
- Solid knowledge of HR policies and employment law in Japan
Soft Skills:
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional HR initiatives from planning to execution
- Self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Native level
- English: Intermediate to Business level
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in multinational or luxury retail organizations
- Familiarity with performance, learning, or DE&I program implementation
- Knowledge of international HR standards or system integration projects
