A leading global private banking group is seeking a Head of HR Japan to act as a strategic partner to senior leadership and drive HR initiatives aligned with business growth in Japan. This executive-level role is ideal for an experienced Senior HRBP with strong financial services exposure who can lead key HR priorities including employee relations, performance management, talent development, and governance. You will play a critical role in shaping people strategy while working closely with regional HR teams in a highly international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior management on all HR-related matters in Japan
- Drive HR strategy and execution aligned with business goals and global standards
- Lead employee relations, performance management processes, and talent development initiatives
- Manage annual compensation and benefits reviews, including reward frameworks
- Oversee HR policies, compliance, and governance in line with Japan labor law and internal standards
- Partner with regional HR teams on change management and cross-border HR initiatives
Required Skills and Qualifications
Experience:
- Proven track record as a Senior HRBP or HR Head within the financial services industry
- Strong hands-on experience in employee relations, performance review cycles, and compensation & benefits
- In-depth understanding of Japan labor laws and HR best practices
Soft Skills:
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including Board and senior leadership engagement
- Strategic mindset with the ability to influence and partner at executive level
- Ability to operate with professionalism, discretion, and strong governance awareness
Language Requirements:
- Japanese: Fluent
- English: Fluent
