An excellent opportunity has arisen for a qualified Financial Accountant to join a well-established organisation in Kilkenny. This is a hybrid role offering a broad mix of financial accounting, reporting, controls, stakeholder management and team leadership.
Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, the successful candidate will take responsibility for the key payment and reporting function, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of high-volume supplier payments while maintaining strong financial controls and driving continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the accurate and timely processing of high-volume supplier payments on a twice-monthly basis.
- Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations.
- Review, prepare and post journal entries.
- Process and reconcile intercompany transactions across business units.
- Support month-end and year-end financial reporting activities.
- Prepare accurate financial reporting and analysis to support business decision-making.
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure the integrity of financial information.
- Act as a key point of contact for external auditors during interim and year-end audits.
- Ensure financial processes and controls comply with internal policies and relevant external requirements.
- Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders across Finance, Tax, Shared Services, IT and operational teams.
- Provide accurate and timely financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support senior management with ad hoc financial analysis, reporting and business initiatives.
- Lead, support and develop a small finance/payments team.
- Review and approve key daily, weekly and monthly outputs.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen processes, reporting and financial controls.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, accuracy and service delivery.
Key Requirements:
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA)
- Strong experience in financial accounting, reconciliations, journal entries and month-end reporting.
- Experience managing or overseeing high-volume payment processes would be advantageous.
- Strong financial control and audit experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Previous experience leading, supervising or developing a finance team would be an advantage.
- A process improvement mindset with the ability to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and controls.
- Experience with large ERP, reconciliation or financial reporting systems would be beneficial.
