Global Macroeconomist - Hedge Fund (Equity Long Short)

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Global Macroeconomist to join our equity long/short investment team in Hong Kong. The role focuses on providing macroeconomic insights across global markets, interest rates, and policy developments while collaborating closely with the equity research team.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze global macroeconomic trends in key markets (U.S., China, Japan, Europe).
• Provide timely macro commentary, forecasts, and scenario analyses to guide equity positioning and risk management.
• Develop views on interest rates, inflation, central bank policies, FX, and sovereign debt markets.
• Collaborate with the equity team to integrate macro insights into portfolio strategies.
• Build and maintain a network of economists, strategists, policymakers, and market participants.
• Monitor key data releases, policy changes, and geopolitical events impacting global markets.
• Contribute to both long-term strategies and short-term market calls through research and discussions.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of experience in macroeconomic research, strategy, or investment.
• Strong understanding of macroeconomic theory, policy, and global markets (especially FX and fixed income).
• Excellent skills in producing impactful analysis and delivering clear briefings.
• Solid quantitative abilities and experience with macroeconomic databases/tools.
• Established network within the macroeconomics community.
• Self-driven, independent thinker with a strong work ethic and team collaboration skills.
• Fluent in English.
