This Hong Kong listed company in the heavy asset industry is looking for the Deputy Chief Financial Officer. There is a succession plan that the Deputy Chief Financial Officer will be promoted to Chief Financial Officer in 3-5 years.
Responsibilities
Capital Expenditure (CapEx) & Asset Management
Heavy asset industries require massive investments in physical infrastructure and machinery.
- CapEx Governance: Oversee the evaluation, approval, and execution of large-scale capital projects.
- ROI Analysis: Conduct rigorous financial modeling, net present value (NPV), and internal rate of return (IRR) calculations for property, plant, and equipment (PP&E) acquisitions.
- Asset Lifecycle Management: Monitor asset depreciation, impairment testing, and disposal strategies to optimize tax positions and balance sheet strength.
Corporate Finance & Capital Structuring
Maintaining liquidity and managing heavy debt loads are vital for capital-intensive businesses.
- Capital Raising: Assist the CFO in securing project financing, syndicated loans, corporate bonds, or equity issuance.
- Debt & Covenant Management: Monitor compliance with financial covenants stipulated by lenders and credit rating agencies.
- Working Capital Optimization: Manage cash flow cycles, optimizing high-value inventory (spare parts, raw materials) and accounts receivable/payable.
Financial Reporting & Compliance
Ensuring accuracy in complex accounting environments with heavy regulatory scrutiny.
- Financial Oversight: Supervise the preparation of consolidated financial statements in compliance with IFRS or US GAAP.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to industry-specific regulations, environmental liabilities, and asset retirement obligations (AROs).
- Audit & Controls: Lead internal and external audit processes, ensuring robust internal controls over financial reporting (SOX compliance).
Strategic FP&A & Operations Support
Translating complex operational metrics into financial strategies.
- Long-Term Planning: Drive the 5-year to 10-year financial planning, forecasting, and annual budgeting cycles.
- Cost Optimization: Partner with operations/engineering teams to manage fixed overheads, maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) costs, and supply chain expenses.
- Variance Analysis: Analyze operational performance against budgets, identifying cost overruns in ongoing major projects.
Risk Management & Hedging
Protecting the company against volatile commodity prices and macroeconomic shifts.
- Commodity & Currency Hedging: Implement derivatives and hedging strategies to mitigate risks related to raw materials, energy prices, and foreign exchange fluctuations.
- Insurance Management: Oversee comprehensive property and casualty insurance programs for high-value physical assets.
Leadership & Stakeholder Relations
- Team Leadership: Mentor and manage corporate finance, accounting, treasury, and tax teams.
- Executive Support: Act as the primary deputy to the CFO, presenting financial health reports to the Board of Directors, executive committees, and investors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree holder from a reputable university
- CPA or CFA holder
- Holding or has held partner level position from Big 4 firms
- Some commercial experience from the heavy asset industry would be a big advantage
- Mainland China and overseas experience would be a plus
- Excellent command of Mandarin and English
