Director of AML / CFT - Advisory
As a Director of AML & Market Development, you will play a strategic leadership role combining business development, market expansion, AML/CFT expertise, and team management.
The role requires a strong commercial mindset with hands-on involvement in the development and execution of AML/CFT engagements, while actively contributing to the growth, innovation of the Firm.
Key Responsibilities
AML/CFT Expertise & Operational Oversight
- Lead and supervise large-scale and complex AML/CFT client engagements, ensuring delivery excellence from scoping to execution and final deliverables.
- Ensure that the quality of work complies with internal standards and regulatory expectations.
- Act as a recognized AML/CFT Subject Matter Expert, providing high-value advice and pragmatic solutions to client issues and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain an active involvement in key or strategic AML engagements, while delegating and supervising operational activities.
- Monitor regulatory developments, market trends, and best practices in AML/CFT.
- Leadership, People Management & Culture
- Lead, manage, and develop AML/CFT teams, including managers, senior consultants, and analysts.
- Contribute to resource planning, recruitment, talent development, coaching, and performance management.
- Foster a high-performance, entrepreneurial, and collaborative culture, encouraging autonomy and accountability.
- Provide continuous feedback, mentoring, and professional development to team members.
Business Development, Sales & Market Expansion
- Act as a senior commercial leader for the AML/CFT practice, driving revenue growth and market expansion.
- Develop and execute the commercial strategy for AML/CFT services in line with the firm's objectives.
- Identify, originate, and convert new business opportunities, including new clients, partnerships, and expanded mandates with existing clients.
- Actively promote the firm's AML/CFT service offerings, methodologies, and solutions in the market.
- Prepare and lead commercial proposals, responses to RFPs, client presentations, and marketing materials.
- Build, maintain, and leverage a strong professional network and client portfolio, positioning the firm as a trusted AML/CFT partner.
- Represent the firm externally at industry events, conferences, client meetings, and networking initiatives.
Technology & Training
- Contribute to the development and evolution of AML/CFT methodologies and solutions, with a strong focus on innovation.
- Identify opportunities to leverage technology, data analytics, and Artificial Intelligence to enhance AML processes, efficiency, and scalability.
- Actively participate in the design and launch of new AML/CFT products or service offerings, including tech-enabled solutions.
- Deliver AML/CFT training, workshops, and updates to clients and internal teams.
- Ensure continuous development of AML/CFT competencies and maintain awareness of evolving business and regulatory trends.
Experience & Technical Skills
- Significant experience (typically 10+ years) in AML/CFT, Compliance, Risk Advisory, or Consulting, with exposure to leadership or director-level responsibilities.
- Proven commercial and sales experience, including business development, client acquisition, and revenue growth.
- Strong understanding of AML/CFT regulatory frameworks and industry practices.
- Demonstrated ability to balance strategic vision with hands-on operational delivery.
- Solid interest and working knowledge of digital transformation, automation, and AI applications in AML.
- Strong entrepreneurial and start-up mindset, with the ability to build, scale, and grow a business line.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills, both internally and externally.
