An established and growing global services organisation is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to join its in-house legal team on a 12 month fixed term contract (with a strong probability of permanency on completion). Reporting to the Risk and Compliance Director, this is an excellent opportunity to provide strategic legal advice while partnering with senior stakeholders across the business in a commercially focused role.
The Role
As Legal Counsel for the UK and Ireland, you will provide practical, commercially driven legal support across a broad range of business activities. You will work closely with senior leadership, helping to manage legal risk, support business growth, and drive best practice across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide timely, accurate and commercially focused legal advice across a wide range of business matters.
- Draft, review and negotiate customer, supplier and other commercial contracts.
- Maintain and update legal templates, precedents and documentation.
- Develop and oversee contract approval processes to minimise legal risk.
- Advise on commercial disputes and employment-related matters.
- Work closely with Risk and Compliance teams to identify and manage legal and regulatory risks.
- Support the implementation of legal technologies and process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Deliver legal training and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Manage urgent legal matters while balancing competing priorities.
- Advise senior management on corporate governance and company secretarial matters.
- Partner with colleagues across Operations, HR, Finance and Business Development on both contentious and non-contentious legal issues.
About You
You will be a qualified lawyer of 5+ years pqe in Ireland or the UK with in-house experience and a strong commercial mindset. You will be confident advising senior stakeholders and capable of balancing legal risk with practical business objectives.
You will have experience in:
- Commercial contracts (essential)
- Employment law
- Corporate governance and company secretarial matters
- Property law, including landlord and tenant matters
You will also demonstrate:
- A pragmatic, solutions-focused approach.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
