An exciting opportunity for a high-calibre corporate finance professional to join a dynamic advisory team providing financial and commercial advice in relation to a portfolio of major semi-state and publicly owned organisations. The role offers exposure to a broad range of corporate finance, investment, and strategic advisory assignments within a commercially focused environment that combines private sector best practice with a public sector remit.
Working as part of a collaborative team, the successful candidate will support the financial oversight of a portfolio of organisations, providing analysis and advice on business performance, funding requirements, capital investment, strategic transactions, and long-term financial sustainability. The role also includes involvement in sustainable finance and climate-related initiatives, supporting organisations in meeting strategic and environmental objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyse financial statements, annual reports, business plans and strategic plans prepared by semi-state organisations.
- Evaluate funding, borrowing and capital investment proposals from a financial and commercial perspective.
- Assess acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and other strategic investment opportunities.
- Monitor financial performance through analysis of key metrics, financial targets and valuation methodologies.
- Undertake industry, market and competitor research to support strategic decision-making.
- Contribute to sustainable finance and climate-related initiatives, including the assessment of investment opportunities that support environmental objectives.
- Build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders across public sector bodies and commercial organisations.
- Prepare clear, commercially focused reports and presentations for senior decision-makers.
Candidate Profile
- Degree in Finance, Business, Commerce, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
- Professionally qualified accountant or finance professional (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CFA or equivalent).
- At least five years' post-qualification experience in corporate finance, financial advisory, professional services or a large commercial organisation.
- Strong financial modelling, analytical and commercial assessment skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability and organisational skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Experience or an interest in sustainable finance, ESG or climate-related investment is desirable.
