Our client, a well-established pharmaceutical company based in Cork, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join their team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys working in a busy environment and has a strong interest in payroll systems, process improvement and ensuring accurate and compliant payroll delivery.
This role is hybrid working 2 days on site each week in Cork.
As Senior Payroll Specialist, you will be responsible for the end-to-end payroll process (Mix of weekly and monthly), ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining high standards of compliance and data integrity.
You will also play a key role in supporting payroll and HR systems, identifying opportunities to improve processes, and working closely with HR, Finance, IT and external payroll providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing (Weekly and Monthly)
- Maintain and manage employee payroll and HR data throughout the employee lifecycle.
- Ensure payroll calculations, pay elements and deductions are accurately processed.
- Carry out payroll reconciliations, audits and controls, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Ensure payroll reporting and submissions are completed accurately and in line with statutory requirements.
- Act as a key point of contact for payroll queries, providing support to employees and internal stakeholders.
- Work closely with external payroll providers and system partners to resolve issues and maintain service levels.
- Support payroll and HR system upgrades, implementations and enhancements, including testing and system improvements.
- Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement and greater efficiency across payroll processes.
- Maintain accurate payroll documentation and ensure processes remain compliant with current legislation.
- Support internal and external audit requirements as required.
The Ideal Candidate
- 4+ years' experience in a payroll-focused role, ideally with experience managing payroll independently.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, controls and relevant payroll legislation.
- IPASS Qualification is desirable.
- Experience working with payroll and HRIS systems.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with HR, Finance, IT and external providers.
- Experience working within a manufacturing, pharmaceutical or other complex business environment would be preferred.
