The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Finance Manager to join a high-performing Fund Operations / Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to a Senior Finance Manager, this role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional to take on a challenging position supporting finance operations, team leadership and investment fund oversight across a diverse portfolio of sovereign and strategic investment funds.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and provide direction to a team of finance professionals
- Train, coach and mentor members of the finance operations team
- Act as a key point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
- Review daily and monthly management information reporting
- Oversee the administration and accounting of investments, ensuring timely settlement and adherence to agreed procedures
- Review monthly reconciliations of investment manager positions against global custodian records
- Oversee global custodian relationships, including monitoring controls, KPI reviews and service meetings
- Understand and assess how complex investment products flow from custody through to accounting
- Prepare and review market opening documentation for segregated market openings
- Prepare and review withholding tax reclaim applications across multiple jurisdictions
- Liaise with external tax advisors to ensure timely completion of filings and advise on tax matters and exemptions
- Support quarterly reporting and investment valuation processes
- Assist with year-end valuation activities involving external valuers and auditors
- Maintain and update finance processes, procedures and controls
- Collaborate closely with financial reporting, investment and project teams
Experience Required
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) desirable but not essential
- Third-level qualification in Finance, Accounting or a related discipline
- Experience managing or leading finance professionals
- Minimum 5 years' Fund Accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of Hedge Funds and Private Markets products
- Experience with portfolio management system onboarding or transformation projects advantageous

- Quoted and unquoted equities
- Bonds
- Funds
- Loans
- Derivatives
- Experience overseeing a global custodian advantageous
- Portfolio management system implementation and usage experience advantageous
- Strong Microsoft Excel and broader Microsoft Office skills
- Knowledge of general ledger systems advantageous
- Understanding of finance controls and governance frameworks
- Exposure to finance transformation and automation initiatives desirable
