Senior Financial Accountant - Hybrid - Cork - Permanent
Job Description:
Morgan McKinley are delighted to be partnering with a leading organisation to recruit a technically strong and detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will support financial reporting and ensure a robust control environment, while maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of financial information. The successful candidate will also provide guidance on complex accounting matters in line with IFRS / Irish GAAP.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Technical Accounting
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Lead the preparation of statutory accounts in line with IFRS / Irish GAAP
- Provide technical accounting guidance on areas such as revenue recognition, leases, and provisions
- Produce management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary
- Maintain and enhance accounting policies and internal control frameworks
Compliance & Financial Control
- Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Maintain a strong financial control environment, including balance sheet reconciliations and journal reviews
- Act as the primary contact for external audits
- Monitor and implement updates to accounting standards and regulations
Month-End & Financial Integrity
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of the general ledger
- Review complex journals, accruals, and reconciliations
- Support a timely and accurate month-end close process
Business Partnering & Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide financial insights and support decision-making
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and planning processes
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and efficiencies
Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA)
- Experience in a Senior Financial Accountant or similar role
- Strong background in financial reporting, audit, and compliance
- Experience working in a deadline-driven environment
- Strong knowledge of IFRS / Irish GAAP
- Advanced Excel skills
